Daniel Becker Obituary, Death – On Saturday morning, November 4, 2023, Daniel Lee Becker, 68, the devoted husband of Kimberly J. Small Becker, passed away at home in the company of his devoted family. Dan grew up in Colfax, Washington, where he was born. After graduating from Eastern Washington University, he started working at Hanford in Richland, Washington, in the nuclear industry in 1979.
He moved to South Carolina in 1991, where he went on to have a prosperous career at Savannah River Site. Dan and Kim planned to relocate once more in 2008, this time “across the pond” to the United Kingdom. Despite his unwavering commitment to his work, his family—especially his grandchildren—came first. He enjoyed swimming, going to the beach, making amazing sandcastles, playing golf, going on treasure hunts, and, of course, enjoying a nice beer while engaging in lively discussion and laughter.
Dan traveled widely after retiring and enjoyed road trips around the country with Kim. He carried on the Becker family habit of not being afraid to work hard and was frequently found in the garage, woodworking, or gardening when he was at home. His mother Norma Becker of Colfax, Washington, brothers Keith (Pam) Becker of Davenport, Washington, and Mike Becker of Colfax, Washington, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews survive him in addition to his wife of 48 years, Kim, and the love of his life.
Dan’s devoted sister-in-law Tanya Becker and father Philip Becker predeceased him. Dan’s 68 brief years on this planet changed the lives of countless people and left it in a better position. Everyone who knew him will miss him. Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home will be open to friends on Tuesday, November 28th from 6 to 8 p.m.
